Hi there and welcome to The Parenting Clubhouse Podcast! Today we are continuing with Part 3 of the Gearing Up for School series. We’ve talked about morning routines and we’ve talked about bedtime routines. Today we are going to cover after school routines. Let’s dive in! 

First thing is first. After school routines will look differently depending on your child’s age, your child’s grade, your family routine, and ultimately, what each child needs out of his or her after school routine. 

An after school routine can include a ton of different activities:

  • Snack
  • Chores
  • Homework
  • Extracurricular activities, like sports practice
  • Playtime for the little ones
  • Downtime for the older ones (like watching TV)
  • Prepping for the next day (backpack, lunch, clothes, etc.)

Hello there and welcome to The Parenting Clubhouse Podcast! It’s the end of July and I know a lot of you are gearing up for the new school year. That’s why I’m dedicating these next four episodes to help you get ready for the start of school. Today I’ll be talking all about how to set your child up for success with morning routines. Let’s get started! 

#1 Set a wake-up time

When we set a wake-up time for our children, we need to think about (1) what time they need to get out the door to head to school and (2) all of the tasks they need to accomplish in order to make it out the door on time. We don’t want our children to feel rushed in the morning so we need to make sure that we are giving them enough time to get everything that they need to get done in the morning.
