The Parenting Clubhouse Podcast Episode 178: “NO!” Responding to the Common Toddler Back-Talk

no podcast strategies Aug 30, 2022

If you have a two-year-old, three-year-old, or four-year-old, you may have noticed the nasty “no” word coming out of your sweet toddler's mouth maybe a little too often.

It’s not super surprising. Your toddler is growing in independence, being in control is something she’s aiming for, and she’s learning that her behavior - her response - can be used for her good.

So today on the show I want to talk about how we should respond to the ever common “no” that our toddlers throw at us.

Your child saying this may absolutely drive you mad, but it doesn’t have to.

Let’s go to the show.

  • Laura Lynn shares the two common reasons for why a child may say “no” to you;
  • She explains why it’s important to understand the reason for why your toddler may be telling you “no”; and
  • She shares how you should respond when your child says “no” to your instruction, your transition, or your positive comment.
